Little Boy Blue

Howdy, friends!

So, over the weekend, we Llamas went on a family outing, and while we were at the park, we met some dear friends, who happened to be celebrating a birthday. This precious little boy's birthday, actually - let's call him Little Boy Blue. It was his 3rd birthday. He was a happy bouncing bundle of toddler energy... Birthday cake and presents will do that, certainly!

Just look at that gorgeous head of curls, will you?!?!

And of course, there's nothing so much fun as riding around on Uncle James' shoulders to finish it all off. It was a fun time, and I'm so glad that Thomas and I were able to join in on it for a few minutes while the little Llamas (and our friends) enjoyed each other's company.

After the shoulder ride, we and our friends - Little Boy Blue included - went our separate ways: they to eat, us off to more adventures! And there are many more to come, so we'll keep you posted!
Until next time,

Surprise!

So Saturday evening, Thomas and I had the opportunity to photograph a surprise birthday party for this great guy, Tim. And it was at the Bunganut Pig, in Franklin, Tennessee.

His sweet wife Sara had contacted me recently about the party, and of course, we were happy to be there to document it for them.

It was awesome. Having been in on a few surprise parties myself, I can honestly say that this was one of the most fun and interesting groups of people I've ever encountered. They were there to have a great time, and they certainly succeeded!

I think what made the whole thing really special was how many people were there - both friends and family - to honor him.

We are so glad to have been able to be a part of this fantastic and special night - it really was so much fun, and I know this night is going to be a great memory for Tim and his family and friends!

Until next time,

Springing into Fun

Hey everybody, Mama Llama here... I wanted to share a few quick snaps from a recent bit of fun we had with some friends... It being a glorious spring day, we had a great little get-together with some friends and shared bubbles, face-painting, and best of all - an egg hunt! I will be adding more photos to this post and the gallery over the next couple of days, but I wanted to get started on this one - so check back frequently!

First up were the bubbles - everybody had fun playing with (and in!) them... I think there's something about bubbles that just makes everybody happy, don't you?

After bubbles, it was time to have some face painting... I must admit, there was a little face-paint drama (but isn't there always?), but overall, I think everybody THOROUGHLY enjoyed the experience!

Miss Heather and Miss Amy really did a fantastic job on the face paint, don't you think? I was thoroughly impressed!

After a little while, it was time for the main event... The egg hunt! Here are two of the action:

And one of the aftermath, ha!

So there you have it, friends... Check back soon, I'm sure there'll be more!

Waiting for Baby E

I recently had the opportunity to photograph the baby shower of my dear friend, Heather. Her sweet baby "E" is due any day now, and so a group of us gathered to celebrate this special time in her life. Heather is an amazing artist, and many of her friends are as well, and the beauty of their artistic spirits was well-reflected during this lovely shower. Enjoy!

Baby E is a boy, and Heather's nursery theme is "Vintage Traveler," so the baby shower echoed the nursery theme... There were lots of vintage maps, globes and hot air balloons! It was so fun... I particularly love hot air balloons!

Precious little Miss H was feeling rather quiet when I snapped this image. I think she may have been desiring one of the truffles (or cake) and was learning to wait patiently... Not that I blame her... I mean, it IS cake, after all. And who can be patient when cake is involved?!?!

And there it is... Beautiful, colorful cake! Cake, caaaaaaaaaake, CAKE!!! Ha!

It was so nice to see dear friends gathered and laughing, the beautiful flowers, and lots of smiles from sweet Heather herself.

I love the use of folded maps as a part of the floral centerpieces. Simply brilliant!

After some of the lovely refreshments, it was time for Heather to open her gifts. It was such a joy to share in that experience with her - baby showers are always a delight, but this one was just the best!

It was an honor to join my lovely friend and make some new ones on her special day. I am so glad that I was able to be there and document this joyful time in her life!

Until next time,

Nick & Mediha

Hey folks, it's the Mama Llama here, with the "official" first-ever Plaid Llama Studios blog post. Yay!

First, a quick introduction: my name is Kristen, and my husband, Thomas (also known as "Daddy Llama" at times) and I make up the Plaid Llama photographic team. We are mama and daddy to two Llama-lings (Llamettes? Little Llamas?) and love our work as parents and creatives.

So that's us.

Anyway.

Now, on to the stars of this post, Nick and Mediha!

Nick and Mediha were married on March 24th, and it was an honor to be there to document their special day. The day turned out beautifully, despite (or perhaps, in addition to!) the rain that interrupted their plans for an outdoor wedding. However, after a few adjustments were made, a lovely, intimate indoor service was had.

The bride, Mediha, is Bosnian by birth, and is in Nashville finishing her degree in fashion design. She and Nick have had a whirlwind romance, and even the wedding itself was a spontaneous one! But their love was very evident from the moment I met them. And with her designer's eye,  I think she pulled this quick wedding together beautifully!

After the ceremony, I whisked them away for a few minutes to capture some moments with just the two of them. It was really great - they are so in love, and I think that really shines through.

Pretty soon, everyone was clamoring for bride and groom to return, so we headed back to take some quick group photos... And these were some of the most fun I've taken.

Nick and Mediha were a lot of fun - there was a lot of laughter, and that is so important!  I am so glad to have met them and shared in their love - they have a very special relationship. All in all, it was an absolutely lovely time with a fantastic couple.

Until next time,

-Kristen...
